Aedipsos Thermae Sylla Hotel Pool and SpasTravel to Evia!
The island, so close to the mainland and seeming to be a part of it (as it once was) is actually the second largest island after Crete. Long and narrow, it's shape follows closely the shape of the mainland as it stretches from nearby Skiathos in the north to Andros in the southeast. At one point, there is only 40 meters separating the two across the famous Evripos Straits, and here is one of the highway crossings via an old drawbridge, from Drossia on the mainland to Halkida, the capital of Evia. The straits have a most peculiar tidal current that reverses itself every few hours, a phenomenon which even Aristotle could not explain in ancient times, nor can modern-day scientists.

Aedipsos Thermae Sylla Hotel and SpasAll along the coast, there are many ferry crossings, and public bus also connects with the mainland over two bridges via a fork on the main Athens - Lamia highway.
The island offers an incredible variety of both landscape and lifestyle. The capital, Halkida, is a modern, industrial city of 50,000 inhabitants. It contrasts sharply with the rest of the island, which includes magnificent fertile valleys, forests, mountains, and beautiful coastal resorts. The island is so large and diverse that you need to give yourself plenty of time for explorations and for the many activities available, such as mountain climbing, hiking, gentle walks, organized beach resorts or quiet little coves, and the well-known spas of Loutra Aedipsos in the northwest.
